How to take care of my fresh tattoo?
First of all, listen to your tattoo artist! You have chosen a professional who will undoubtedly provide you with the detailed information you need to care for your fresh tattoo. Following their instructions to the letter is an essential step on the way to achieving good healing.
How will I protect my tattoo when it is finished?
Once the tattoo is completed, the tattoo artist will clean it and cover it with plastic. There are two types of protective plastics. Which one is better? Each plastic has its advantages, and your tattoo artist will use the plastic that best suits the conditions of your tattoo. Identify which one you have and follow the steps that correspond to it.
care of a tattoo
1. Dermal patch :
It is plastic with an adhesive specially formulated for tattoos and skin. Its technology allows it to remain on the skin for several days. Generally, this type of patch is used in small and medium tattoos or difficult areas. It would help if you left it on until about day 5.
2. Plastic film (the one used for food and microwaves):
This plastic has been widely used in the tattoo healing process for many years and with excellent results. It will protect your skin for the first few hours. Usually, you should leave it on for between 4 and 8 hours.
Once you have identified the type of plastic covering you, follow the steps that correspond to you to take care of your new tattoo.
INDICATIONS WITH DERMAL PATCH:
Remove the plastic between the 5th and 6th day

The patch will last on your skin for an average of 5 to 6 days *. If it is still there on day 6, you can carefully remove it by soaking it in the shower. Slowly remove the plastic, don’t pull it straight up. Pull it back while keeping the skin firm with your other hand. Then continue with step 2.
Sometimes the plastic falls off partially or falls before five days. In this case, cut out the plastic that is not adhered to the skin with clean scissors, wash the area with water and dermo-cleaner, and apply the tattoo cream, in a skinny layer, on the parts without plastic once a day.
In the first 24 hours, an accumulation of plasma and ink may form under the plastic. This is perfectly normal.

Remove the plastic between 4 and 8 hours later
This plastic does not have adhesive so removing it is very easy. If they finish your tattoo at night, you can remove it until the next day when you wake up, since sleeping with it the first night will protect your tattoo from scratches with the sheets, and you will be able to sleep more comfortably. Then continue with step 2.
* Possibly an accumulation of plasma and ink forms under the plastic. This is perfectly normal. Remove it gently with the first wash you do to your tattoo.
How to take care of my tattoo the first few days?
THESE INDICATIONS ARE FOR ALL TATTOOS, NO MATTER WHAT TYPE OF PLASTIC YOU HAVE USED.
2) WASH THE AREA 1 TIME A DAY WITH A DERMAL CLEANER
Once without plastic (whatever you have had), wash the area with water and a dermo-cleaner. Do it gently with your fingertips, remember to rinse very well, and use warm or cold water (not hot). Avoid drying the area with a towel (it keeps a lot of bacteria). Use a disposable towel instead. Wash your tattoo only once a day, a maximum of two, and only if you consider that the area is dirty.
3) APPLY THE TATTOO CREAM, ONCE TO TWICE A DAY, FOR 10 DAYS
If your question is, how long should I put cream on my tattoo? The answer is simple for ten days. Apply the cream gently and in a VERY THIN layer. This will prevent the tattoo from drying out and help it heal properly.
The skin will go through a regeneration process until it reaches an optimal state. This will take a few weeks, but the skin will look restored around day 10.
Remember not to scratch your tattoo for any reason. Your tattoo may form some thin scabs, also remember not to tear off the scabs. Let them fall off on their own.
* Remember to handle the cream container cleanly, wash your hands before handling the container, pour a small portion into a disposable tissue, and from there, take it with your finger to apply it to the skin.
4) ON DAY 11, SWITCH TO LUBRICATING CREAM.
The delicate period in the care of your tattoo has passed, but the skin still shows signs of fragility, so we recommend that you now use a moisturizing cream on your tattoo (without perfume) to keep the skin hydrated. Use it one to two times a day, in a skinny layer for two more weeks. After that, your tattoo is considered healed.
